My central research theme is on functional traits – the traits that matter to the organism’s fitness, ecology, and evolution. For instance, body size, age at sexual maturity, metabolic rate, and dispersal ability are all traits that may influence their success in their environment. A key aspect of my research is understanding how biotic and abiotic challenges affect and shape responses at the trait and whole-organism level, within an organism’s lifetime and across generations. I have had the opportunity to ask physiological, ecological, and evolutionary questions about functional traits on a variety of systems.

Below are several examples of research projects I have conducted or been involved with.
